Are you new to the Twitter party? You can make instant connections and share valuable info about your business.  It takes a while to build up connections but when you do, it’s well worth it!  Here are my top 10 on joining this party!

1. Create your profile- use key words to describe your biz and a snippet of your philosophy.  Add a gorgeous high resolution photo for your avatar.  If you like, take this all a step further and customize your background.  The more personalized to your business the more credible the rest of us will find you!

2. Start Following- Align your business with others that share your philosophy and vision, as well as others you’d like to share and engage with!

3. Have a listen- sit back and have a listen (read) of what others are chatting about and sharing.  It is ok…. you’re new here so you want to check out what is going on.

4. Share your voice – join the conversation and engage others but do so from the heart of your biz, your philosophy and vision.  What we see on line, we want to be the same as when and if we meet face to face.

5. Engage! Ask & Answer- Ask questions to get a conversation going! Answer those you see others asking @ is the reply symbol to jump on in.

6. RT Share others info- RT or Retweet to share something that your followers may also find enjoyable or share the love for someone by reposting something about their business or brand!

7. Send short Tweets- when at all possible, while Twitter is a platform to share in 140 characters, 120 characters does the trick to help others be able to RT/ Share your tweets back to others!

8. Share your Specials- Please do share your specials and let us know what you’re involved with charity or otherwise!  Just be sure to not bombard us with them on a regular basis or this may be perceived as unworthy annoyance and you may lose your following and credibility that you are trying to build.

9. Run a Contest- Again, it’s ok to share about yourself!   If something is new that you want to get the word out about or maybe you’re new here, then a contest can be a great way to join this party! As, above do tweet tactfully about this.  Contests usually grow organically!

10. Do take this party off line! – In the real world you want to be taking those that you are meeting online and meet them offline! Invite them in for tea or host a tweet up to share something from your biz and get to know each other better in the real world!

While these are my top 10 there is much more to this party!  Remember, as a rule of thumb to listen, @ reply, RT retweet, share, ask and answer!  You’ll be engaging enough to take the party offline, make new connections for your biz and add value to those following along in no time!

Have you been here awhile?  Please do add your own tips and tricks and start a conversation below!
