As busy professional Moms, our schedules often leave us with little time to focus on our health.  New health trends come in and out of fashion regularly; some are fads but some hold strong validity and proof in numbers.  Currently, a trend that is gaining merit with physicians around the world is the powerful impact that raw foods have on our health.  As professional Moms, we push the envelope of our time and energy, which leaves us very little time, to dig deeper into what health professionals are reporting.  The ‘big business’ and political realities of today’s food industry mean that the information about what makes our bodies run optimally is not always conveyed accurately by our governing food agencies. This leaves it up to us to do our own research on the subject or seek out advice from those we trust.

I just finished reading Kris Carr’s “Crazy, Sexy Diet” and although I was already leaning towards her principles of living, her book really clarified why plant based and raw living is important for high grade health and longevity. While it may be unrealistic to totally abandon conventional ways of nutrition, what I have learned is that by incorporating as much plant based nutrition into your diet (preferably raw), it overpopulates your cells with oxygen that makes it difficult for illness and disease to thrive. As a result you can enjoy some very desirable outcomes:  Clear skin and sinuses, better sleep, fewer colds, balanced blood sugar and, drum roll please…….consistent energy, which is what we as professional Moms all want

Here is a quick way to start your day (in the raw) with boundless energy and overflowing oxygen flooding your cells!

Green Smoothie

  • 1 cup coconut water or purified water
  • 1 Banana or 2 pears
  • 2 ounces of E3 Live
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 Avocado
  • 2 – 8 Kale leaves
  • Stevia to taste or 1 teaspoon Agave

Blend until smooth.

The above recipe was slightly modified from a recipe in Kris Carr’s “Crazy, Sexy Diet” book. The Internet has more recipes to suit any taste, simply search “green smoothies”.

Incorporating any amount of raw food into your meal plan has endless benefits.  Give it a try and you will perform your professional career and motherhood like a supreme champion!
