No Man is an Island

It has been quite awhile since my last post.  Like everyone else, October seemed to be an overwhelmingly busy month for me.  The crazy array of meetings, deadlines, colds and flu’s, appointments and preschool seemed to be completely time consuming. I am not complaining, mind you, I love being busy, but sometimes life can become a bit much causing tempers to flare, appointments to be forgotten, and less important deadlines to get rewritten on the to-do list indefinitely.  However, there is one very important component in my life that helps hold me together and keeps me (somewhat) sane…my support team!  I am so very fortunate to have the most amazing husband a girl could have, a small group of friends I can always turn to, and an incredible network of business women who are always more than willing to share their ideas and opinions.

I have learned, especially lately, how a support system plays a significant role in any successful business.  First of all, no (wo)man is an island.  How can we possibly know everything we need to know, see everything we are supposed to see and anticipate everything that may happen down the road.  We can’t…that is why we need people on our “team” to help fill in those gaps, guide us when we are unsure, and teach us from their own experiences.

Secondly, we need someone to occasionally bounce ideas off.  You may be able to talk to your computer screen all day (and sometimes yell and curse at it), but it doesn’t provide you with the feedback you need.  Not every single idea you are going to have is going to be a winner….sometimes you need someone to point this out for you (even if you feel like strangling them at the time) and offer other options that may be more suitable.

Finally, we all need someone to hold us accountable.  Human beings, like most living things, will usually take the path of least resistance…holding back from doing something we dislike or find daunting.  A good supporter will help you over that fear and be your cheerleader.  Knowing you have to report in to someone can help you ensure you get that formidable, but necessary task done, that extra client earned, or even make sure you take that break you so desperately need.

I am so thankful for all of my supporters.  Without you, I would only be a mere piece of what I am today.  Who is on your support team?  Have you shown them some love recently?  If you need to find some support, reach out today and ask someone you admire.

Stay Inspired!

Amanda

(I think my laptop decided to go ahead and post what I hadn`t finished writing!)

Anyhow, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to YOU for being such a fabulous supporter yourself. You have been an amazing means of strength for me.

    Hugs to you!

What I said initially was that I just happen to have a fabulous supporter and her name, by chance, is Amanda Wamsteeker. (That`s when my computer seized on me so that comment likely ended up in cyberspace.)

So thanks for a fabulous article and a great reminder that, yes, we have to reach out. I`ve done that and I don`t regret it. :)
